Well the Corps not going to Afghanistan yet
SecDef Gates and the CMC have agreed to not pull the Marines out of Iraq and send to Afghanistan. From what I have read it seems out NATO allies are not pulling their weight and the Talib have taken over half the country. The Talib also seem to be a little smarter about it this time as well. No random executions that sort of thing. It seems we are going to have to go about out COIN operations in a different way there as Iraq is a more urbanized country Afghanistan is not. We are going to need the troops in country to live with the people in very forward bases. Problem is due to the poor road net helicopter re-supply and reinforcement is going to be needed. Since there is also a shortage of vertical lift capability in theatre that is going to have to be increased. In other words a MAF or the 101 Airmobile (Division) and I mean all of it needs to be deployed that will help.
